Damn, Damn, Damn! War Against Spam!

Thursday, February 24th, 2005

I’ve been forced to turn off trackback on my blog. I have been getting torrents of trackback spam, and I just can’t cope any longer. I’ve spent the last half an hour deleting and banning the IP’s of comment spam. I then checked my trackbacks and the spam problem there is a 1000% worse. So I thought, oh fuck it, no more trackbacks for me.

Texas Hold-em Poker was a good game until these bastards started advertising it, now it’s just ruined for all time.

And…

MY PENIS IS BIG ENOUGH THANKYOU VERY MUCH!!!

Preventing Auschwitz

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2005

The following is inspired by, but not in response to, a comment left on my site by Mr White, “what i reject is unelected outside bodies dictating our laws on human rights grounds, ie the un, on discrimination grounds…” I must disagree, if the UN has done one thing right, it is what it has done in the area of human rights and anti-discrimination.

Throughout my blog I have a history of sticking up for gays. I am not gay myself, so why am I so passionate about the topic? Ultimately the answer is: Hitler wasn?t only responsible for the killing of Jews. Homosexuals and people with disabilities were also murdered.

I have the misfortune of having Muscular Dystrophy, so when I learnt this it drove into me the belief in anti discrimination laws, and a belief in human rights. Freedom of religion and freedom to live the life that you wish are central to my beliefs.

When I see a gay person suffering discrimination I can?t help but to get upset. I almost take it as a personal attack on me.

There is a long history throughout the world of discrimination against people with disabilities. There was a time, not that long ago, when a disabled person was not to be seen in public. This discrimination stems from the Karmic view of disability, “you, or your parents, must have done something to deserve it.” Some people hold this view to this very day.

It might sound silly to equate disability with homosexuality (I am NOT suggesting homosexuality is a disability). There is a long history of disability being considered a sign of sin. There are passages in the bible in Leviticus and The Gospel Of Mark that, “have frequently been cited as proof that disability is a sign of moral imperfection or divine retribution for sin.”

This extends to the belief amongst some Christians that if you truly believe in God, or ask him with great sincerity, that you will be cleansed of all your sins and healed. This criticism should not only be directed at Christians. Some people who believe in Karma or Reincarnation consider that disability is punishment for sins committed in past lives.

Thankfully, a tiny minority of people now hold these views. The new target seems to be homosexuals. The same things that were said about people with disabilities are now being said about gays. An example of this is the belief that homosexuality can be cured or healed, either through psychiatric treatment or through belief in God, or maybe both.

Of course we have heard this before. I’ve known disabled people who believe that God will heal them. When they are let down their congregations tell them, their faith was not strong enough. This is pretty tragic on an individual scale. But when it extends throughout an entire religion it is a crime. If, as I believe, homosexuality cannot be “cured” gays have two choices, lie or turn their back on God.

I know what discrimination is like. Anti discrimination laws are there to protect people. It’s not about condoning and it’s not about acceptance it’s about preventing Auschwitz.

Goodbye Mike Jericho

Sunday, February 20th, 2005

It’s going to be really sad to see you go Mike. I’m lost for words; I really don’t know what to say (probably a first for me).

In a time when the attitude of some righties and lefties seems to be, “I’m a left/right winger – tell me what to believe”.

Mike Jericho stands alone and says, “I’ll believe what I want to believe and I won’t let you tell me otherwise.”

Goodbye and I hope to see you in the comments on my blog and many others.

P.S. I will try to be one of the first (I don’t think I will beat Darp somehow!) to buy your book.

Hi Marcel

Sunday, February 13th, 2005

I have noticed that some of the replies I make in the comments on my site are way to long and would be better as posts on my blog. This is the first of what might be a regular thing on my site. This is a reply to Marcel White was commenting on my last post “Alan Keyes, What A Creep.”

Anyone can reply to this I would really enjoy a discussion about this, the more Bloggers the merrier.

Hi Marcel,

It’s good to know you still read my blog. I would love to have an ideological discussion with you. This post probably was a bit unfair and if Allen Keyes read it I would probably be a bit embarrassed (but not very).

Allen Keyes has made himself a target for kicking his only daughter out of home and sacking her from her job. It must be very hard for someone in her position.

I know you would answer with: she chooses to be gay. But please answer me this question: could you prevent yourself from finding women attractive and then have sexual intercourse with a man. I know I certainly couldn’t, finding women attractive is deeply seated within me. People of Keyes opinion believe that people are warped enough do exactly this. I have spoken to many homosexuals and they show no symptoms of having a psychological problem that large.

I am able to put myself in another people?s shoes (in my head). What could be wrong with softening your opinion of homosexuals after all Jesus did preach forgiveness. People like Allen Keyes need to remember the golden rule, treat others the way you wish to be treated. This principal is seems to be mostly forgotten by the Christian right.

Please believe men when I say, I’ m not trying to be vulgar and I am not trying to offend you, I am trying to get to the bottom of what you believe.

I don’t really think this is post unfair as some of Keyes arguments are not thought out to their logical conclusion. Anyone with half a brain could work out the damage that leaving the UN would have on America’s standing in the world.

The UN does have its faults but these international organisations are designed to make war less likely. They give countries a forum to discuss with each other and try to work out their differences instead of blowing themselves back to the Stone Age.

If no UN, then what organisation would replace it or would you replace it?

If you don’t want to have a discussion on every single topic raised please just focus on one.

I have added your site to my blog roll so I can visit your site regularly.

Alan Keyes, What A Creep

Thursday, February 10th, 2005

Who is Alan Keyes? Alan Keyes is an ultra conservative, ultra right wing*, fundamentalist Christian American politician.

Alan Keyes is a two time Presidential nominee, and has been nominated for a Senate position 3 times (that’s 5 times a failure). He claims to be a compassionate conservative and family man. I got this off his website.

Dedicated family man. Keyes and his wife Jocelyn have three children: Francis, Maya, and Andrew.”

If he’s so dedicated why has he kicked his daughter out of home and sacked her from her job? Because she has come out of the closet, that is why. Maya, daughter of Alan Keyes, is a lesbian (she is also a blogger).

Keyes reaction to this turn of events is not surprising when you look at his website. You should read it, it is pure champagne comedy or soul destroying conservatism.

“We must end government programs like the family-destroying welfare system and sex-education courses that encourage promiscuity. These programs actually hasten the moral breakdown.”

When your daughter asks, “Mummy, why am I bleeding?” is the wrong time to discuss the birds and the bees. If Alan Keyes had his way, this scene would be played out all across America.

What he has to say about gay rights is just as scary.

“In terms of civil rights discrimination, it is wrong to treat sexual orientation like race, for race is a condition beyond the individual’s control. Sexual orientation, however, involves behavior, especially in response to passion.

If we equate sexual orientation and race, we are saying that sexual behavior is beyond the individual’s control and moral will. We cannot embrace such an understanding of civil rights without denying the human moral capacity, and with it the fitness of human beings for life in a free society.”

It’s difficult to work out exactly what he’s saying here, but I think he has a seriously twisted view of homosexuality. In my opinion, it’s possible for a male to be homosexual and not to, how can I word it, fuck a man up the ass.

The question here is, is the Pope heterosexual? Lets assume the answer is yes. Has he ever had sex with a woman? No! So this proves that sexual orientation has nothing to do with a person’s actions.

His feelings about the UN make me feel giddy.

“Whatever benefits of international cooperation and consultation the United Nations has made possible, it has from its flawed founding been a source of dangerously naive globalist dreams. Some American politicians have been so corrupted by the internationalist ideal that they cannot resist the temptation to elevate the United Nations into a supra-national entity that threatens American sovereignty.

Should this pernicious tendency persist, the United States will have to withdraw from the United Nations, and yet firmly maintain our ongoing international responsibilities as a sovereign nation and world leader.”

Withdraw from the United Nations, what is he on? Withdrawing from the United Nations would be almost suicidal for the US. Creating a giant “us and them” feeling between the rest of the world and America. This guy thinks he has the best interests of the United States at heart?

Alan Keyes needs to remember that the early United States was partially responsible for the SLAVERY, that’s right, SLAVERY of Alan Keyes ancestors. Yes ladies and gentlemen, Alan Keyes is in fact an African American.

*I’m sorry to taint the terms right wing and conservative, a creature such as Alan Keyes is so far to the right that new terms need to be created.

Update: My brother just asked me, how did I find this Alan Keyes? Well the answer turns out to be as interesting as the man himself. I was seeing if the word blogging had two “G”s or three by typing it into google. Word underlines it in red because it is a “new” word. From there I found this article where I found this blogger where I found out about this scumbag.

Andrew Bolt the Idiot!

Wednesday, February 9th, 2005

If you read Andrew Bolt’s latest article, you will be amazed at the unbalanced nature of his mind.

Andrew thinks that our current cold snap helps disprove the theory of global warming.

I have two things to say to Andrew Bolt, is it hotter in Queensland than in Melbourne? The answer is yes. Does it flood in Queensland? Yes it does.

These floods in Melbourne may suggest that monsoonal weather is heading south; then again it may be a one off fluke. I don?t know and I bet my arse that Andrew Bolt doesn?t either

What Andrew doesn?t understand is that in a system as complex as Earth?s atmosphere, any change will have chaotic consequences.

The chaotic nature of the atmosphere has always been a part of the global warming theory. Some parts of the Earth will get hotter and dryer, some hotter and wetter, others colder and dryer, or in our case colder and wetter.

Andrew needs to remember that Glaciers are shrinking on every continent. The Antarctic ice shelfs get smaller every year. The AVERAGE temperature on Earth is rising, and if we don’t wish to face unpredictable consequences something needs to be done.

We don’t need simple-minded, ignorant people like Andrew Bolt fucking up our last chance of having sane weather. Does Andrew think that the majority World Leaders, and Scientists are insane or lying to us? I’m sure these people are much better informed than Andrew Bolt.

My Brother Starts Blogging

Friday, February 4th, 2005

My brother Nick has started a Blog. Nick will be the main author of this blog, but I will pop in from time to time to do a post of my own.

This blog is to publicise our business Constitution Computing. Blogs have started to have an influence in the corporate world; it’s a way of forcing corporations to be honest with their customers. We thought, we’re pretty honest blokes and a blog would be a good demonstration of our talents.

Constitution Computing will also be hosting blogs for people who wish to avoid the hazards of Blogger, and to have experts available (Me and Nick) to help them develop their blog and to assist if something goes wrong.

Nick?s blog won’t only be used to tell everyone how great Constitution Computing is (and it is great let me tell you, Ha Ha), but hopefully will be of use to the blogging community in general. We will share our expertise with the Blogosphere, such as how to get pop up comments working in Word Press.

—End Advert—

In all seriousness check out Nick’s blog and be sure to leave a comment and welcome him to the Blogosphere.

Farm Subsidies The New “Axis Of Evil”

Friday, February 4th, 2005

John Howard has finally said something that I agree with. During last weeks Trade Summit in Switzerland he took a swipe at rich countries that have huge farm subsidies.

This statement was very poorly covered by the television media. They billed it as a swipe at the EU. When you look at what he actually said, he does mention North American countries as well.

“If the nations of Europe and north America and others that have highly protective agricultural policies wanted to really help any of the developing countries, they could do more to help them in changing their trade policies than they could through official development assistance. – John Howard”

Farm subsidies are one of the greatest sources of poverty in the developing world. Subsidies encourage the over production of agricultural goods. The USA supports their farmers with 20 billion dollars worth of subsides a year. Things are even worse in the EU with 45 billion dollars.

This is a massive burden on taxpayers. Why should taxpayers be paying for grain when the US and EU already have to much. In the case of the US ending subsidies would kill two birds with one stone: raising grain prices and lowering the deficit.

The US government buys most of its humanitarian aid from US farmers. There are known examples of aid being delivered to Ethiopia when grain is still stored in Ethiopian warehouses. Why is a poor person going to buy Ethiopian grain when they can get US grain for free?

If I was a Right Wing Death Beast I would now carry on about the welfare mentality encouraged by an over supply of food aid. But what about the welfare mentality of the farmers propped up by massive subsidies?

Contrary to popular opinion the world has never been short of food. It’s just that the rich parts have far too much; this is demonstrated by the obesity epidemic suffered by most western nations.

We need to stop to stuffing our faces and instead try to make the world a better place.
